The Fundy Foothills region has been home since time immemorial to the Wolastoqiyik, Peskotomuhkati, and Mi’kmaq Peoples. We recognize that, in this territory, Indigenous rights holders have endured historical oppression and continue to endure inequities that have largely resulted from the widespread failure of non-Indigenous treaty people to uphold our responsibilities. We honour their enduring relationship with this land and their deep connection to its waters, forests, and communities.
